The Second Annual Claw Down Chef’s Lobster Bite competition hosted by the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce is set to tempt the palettes of the most discerning lobster fanatics!

 

Limited to only 400 attendees this event sold out last year at 200 people so we doubled the capacity.

You will enjoy savory lobster bites from eighteen local chefs while sipping on wines from Central Distributors. 

Our Host Celebrity Chef Michele Ragussis, Executive Chef at The Pearl restaurant in Rockland and a finalist in the Food Network show "The Next Food Network Star" and "Chopped” will emcee the event. 
 

Three industry-renowned judges will be faced with the hard task of selecting the Judges’ Choice winner, while attendees will be asked to cast their votes for the People’s Choice winner for Claw Down Chef of the Year. The 2nd Annual Claw Down will feature three-industry renowned professionals at our Judges' table:

Located in Rockland, the lobster capital of the world,
Café Miranda is a small, cozy bistro like restaurant with a big menu of ethnic tastes and bites to please even the pickiest of palettes.

Chef Lynn Archer, a.k.a The Queen of Clubs, owner/Executive Chef of Archer's on the Pier and The Brass Compass Café and winner of the "Lobster Dekkah" challenge on the Food Network Show “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” Chef Archer spends most of her time between her Rockland-based restaurants:The Brass Compass Café and Archer’s on the Pier    


Sandy Oliver, Maine food historian, Bangor Daily News food columnist and author of “Maine Home Cooking.” Sandy is a freelance food writer with the column Taste Buds appearing weekly since 2006 in the Bangor Daily News.

Last year, Executive Chef Micah Jones of Brown's Wharf Inn received the Judge's Choice Award in a blind judging competition for the Claw Down Chef of the Year.  Jones' winning bite was a polenta and truffle lobster bite, fresh lobster meat served over a sun-dried tomato and polenta cake, finished with lobster sauce and truffle oil.

Executive Chef Fiona Dunlap of the Newagen Seaside Inn & Restaurant was voted as the People's Choice Award winner of the First Annul Claw Down event. Dunlap's bite was a petite corn cake topped with native corn puree, Maine lobster, butter sauce and candied tarragon.

Audrey Miller has commissioned Kim Walker to create three relief lobster tiles that are Made‐In‐Maine.  They are 3” X 6” • Multicolored • Made for and sold exclusively by Tile Connection.  Price: $40 includes tax, gift card, wrapped in bubble wrap. A portion of the sale is donated to the Chamber of Commerce as a fundraiser for Claw Down. Endless decorating possibilities: Can be installed or hung as a single tile. Shuttle Information
: Country Coach Charters will be the exclusive shuttle service for Claw Down. Enjoy the trolley rides from 5p.m.-10p.m. to the Ocean Point Marina from any one of these Shuttle Stops: Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, Washburn & Doughty,  and Hodgdon Yachts (School Street and Murray Hill Road). Thank you to Country Coach Charters, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, Washburn & Doughty and Hodgdon Yachts for providing the shuttle and official shuttle stops for Claw Down.
